Consider removing Nth Dimension from device name
If there is a way to do this without breaking device auto detection (e.g. via udev rules on Linux, or however it is done on Windows and macOS), it'd be better to get Nth Dimension's name off of there. It could be confusing to users, as it may cause people to think that Nth Dimension is still involved in this project, which they are not.

Make the firmware change and flash a device with the updated firmware -
Make any changes to the client or udev rules needed(none needed) -
Verify devices with old firmware can be detected with old clients -
Verify devices with old firmware can be detected with the new client -
Verify devices with new firmware can be detected with the new client
It is not required that devices with the new firmware be detected in the old client, because if a user is updating the firmware, they're almost certainly updating the client. However, if we can get old clients to still detect new firmware versions with the new device name, that'd be great.
